ABOUT GEBHARDT

Greg Gebhardt is an empathetic, values-based leader with extensive experience in the public and private sectors. He currently leads a Veterans-focused non-profit in the greater Research Triangle community of North Carolina that serves over 4,500 Veterans and their family members annually.

Greg started his professional journey serving others at the lowest levels of enlistment in the United States Army and today serves as a Lieutenant Colonel in the North Carolina National Guard. After transitioning from full-time, active-duty service, Greg has served in a wide array of roles, from working as a senior staff member in the North Carolina General Assembly, successfully plowing cold ground at a renewable energy start-up, beating out hundreds of applicants for one of five positions on a revolutionary team at one of the nation’s largest utility providers, and now leading a non-profit. The common thread through all of those experiences is a focus on people; Greg has an uncanny ability to connect with others in a uniquely authentic manner.

Leaders often ask Greg to lend his expertise and experience to worthy causes, big and small. He is an executive board member for the North Carolina National Guard Association and recently completed his tenure on the Board of Directors at Veterans in Energy. Greg consistently gives back to his community, serving as the Local Parents and Teachers Association President and as a girl’s youth volleyball coach. Additionally, Greg dedicates much of his time to volunteering as a liaison officer for the admissions office at West Point. In that role, Greg assists young men and women—who grew up like him in a challenging socio-economic situation—navigating the intimidating admissions process at his alma mater.

Greg is humbled to have been recently selected, ahead of several other senior officers, to serve as Commander, 105th Engineer Battalion, North Carolina Army National Guard, in Raeford, North Carolina. Greg is responsible for leading a 680-person organization in this role, geographically displaced between eight locations across the state.

Greg is the proud owner of a Bachelor of Science degree from the premier leadership institution in the world: The United States Military Academy at West Point, where he studied Systems Engineering and served as his class vice-president. Further, he earned a Master of Business Administration from the Chapman School of Business at Florida International University. Additionally, Greg recently completed the Advanced Operations Course in Military and Strategic Leadership from the United States Army Command and General Staff College.
