ABOUT MILLS

 

Danika Mills has 20+ years of experience in public health and dedicates her time and energy to reducing health disparities and improving health equity. She has held numerous leadership roles in population health, care management, Medicaid redesign, and reproductive health. She was the Executive Director of Coordinated Behavioral Care, Inc. and the CBC IPA. She has led innovative healthcare and health information technology projects and published work about school-based mental health using EBTs like Critical Time Intervention and Seeking Safety.

Currently, she is the Director of Market Success, National Network Partners at Unite Us, where she plans and implements the rollout of national partnerships and builds a go-to-market strategy for national community customers. Previously, she served as State Network Director with Unite Us for North Carolina and NCCARE360, the nation’s first coordinated care network, and Arkansas, using human-centered technology to support and connect health and social care. She also consults with some of the nation's most innovative companies in healthcare as a strategic consultant. She has served as the board president of the North Carolina Art Therapy Institute for over three years.

Danika holds two master’s degrees in social work and art therapy and is a licensed clinical social worker, board-certified art therapist, licensed creative arts therapist, and certified case manager with certificates in Executive Leadership in Healthcare, Financial Success for Nonprofits, and

Financial Management from Cornell University. She also earned a certificate in Executive Leadership in Not-for-Profits from New York University. 

 

Danika has received several recognitions and accolades, including New York Nonprofit Media named Danika a “40 under 40 Rising Star”, honored with a Corporate Social Responsibility award for Health and Wellness by NY City & State, and won a Science to Service Award from the Substance Use and Mental Health Services Administration. She is an Expert Advisor for a Health Resources and Services Administration Challenge Grant and is a Leadership North Carolina’s XXIX Class member.

She brings a passion for health and gender equity to all her work. After 20 years in New York City, she lives in the Raleigh, NC, area and is a mom to three sparkling redheads.
